I have been working full-time as an affiliate marketing since 2022. I have one thing to tell you… It’s not an easy sport.
But, if you focus on it, and learn its ins and outs, it can become a very profitable profession.
In this article I will show you 5 affiliate marketing examples that will help you understand better what affiliate marketing is.
In the meantime, if you want to learn more about affiliate marketing you can read more of my articles here.
But before I start with the affiliate marketing examples it is important that you understand FIRST what affiliate marketing is.
What is Affiliate Marketing?
In simple words..
Affiliate Marketing = Sales.
Promote other companies’ products or services through different techniques. For every sale you make, you receive a commission.
And how does this company understand that the sale came from you?
Each affiliate marketing program offers you a link which has an identifier coded on it which “allows it to understand” that the sale came from you.
And what are these affiliate marketing techniques for promoting these products/services?
There are too many. Some of the most common ones are:
- Ads on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Google, LinkedIn.
- Creating a blog and producing content around the products or services you are promoting
- Content production and publishing on other websites
- Sending promotional emails to lists (with emails) related to your target group.
- Creating a YouTube channel and promoting products from there.
- If you are an Influencer you are promoting products to your audience.
- Spamming in groups, forums (yes, there is such a thing).
And, how much money can you make from affiliate marketing?
Just so you understand, in the last 30 days, from a single program, I have earned $523.
I hope you now understand what affiliate marketing is. Many people may think that affiliate marketing is a scam. But it is not.
Just as in any profession on the planet, whether offline or online, there are scammers, so too in affiliate marketing.
Affiliate marketing examples
Anyway, now that we have clarified what affiliate marketing is, let’s look at 5 examples.
1. Affiliate Marketing on YouTube
Many affiliates promote products through YouTube.
They use programs like Pictory to quickly and easily create videos or just buy them ready-made from Fiverr.
For example, if you go to YouTube and type in “Exipure” you’ll get a lot of videos that look like that. Exipure is a supplement to lose weight.
By clicking on one of them, you will see that in the description of the video there are affiliate links.
If someone clicks on these links and buys the product, then the person who has the links will get a commission.
Where do you get this product? On affiliate networks like Clickbank.
As you can see in the screenshot for each sale affiliates earn about $147.
Now to get your affiliate link, click on the Promote > Generate Hoplink > button and your link will automatically appear with your ID.
This is a simple example of someone promoting weight loss supplements using this type of video.
Others do product reviews, others do product recommendations…
Each affiliate marketer who uses this tactic (YouTube) chooses what to promote and the style of the videos he wants to create – always depending on the audience of potential buyers.
2. Affiliate Marketing with blogging
This example is clear.
In essence, you’re creating a blog where you write content around a niche – a category.
E.g. fashion, health, skincare, outdoors, gaming, investing, how to make money online, affiliate marketing (what I do) and anything else you can imagine.
Within the content you include affiliate links from various programs that you are a member of.
When someone finds your article through the search engines or social networks, they click to read it, and IF they click on a link in your article that is an affiliate link and buy something, then you get a commission.
Very simple.
Let’s look at some examples of affiliate marketing with blogging.
Example #1 – An affiliate who promotes web hosting services through his blog.
Example #2 – This blogger is promoting knives for camping. As you can see, his blog revolves around outdoor activities and camping.
Example #3 – Beauty blogger recommends and promotes cosmetics
All the above links are affiliate links to the Amazon affiliate program.
3. Affiliate Marketing with Google Ads
This method requires you to “run ads” through the Google or Microsoft platform – which is more “flexible”.
Let’s look at an example.
I wrote video software on Google and we see that it gets 1300 searches a month.
In the first position of the results (SERPs) we see that there is a sponsored result that looks like the “organic” results.
Well, that’s an advertisement.
The advertiser targets the specific keyword. Whenever someone searches for that keyword, the advertiser’s ad is displayed.
However, many products from Affiliate Marketplaces such as Clickbank, are not allowed to advertise directly on Google.
That’s why many affiliates (including me) use landing page builders to promote a product,
In essence ..
- The user clicks on the advertisement
- Transferred to the landing page.
- Clicks on a button or link within the landing page
- He goes to the product page and buys.
Landing pages are created with landing page builders or through email marketing platforms – as they started to offer this feature.
4. Affiliate Marketing with Email Marketing (Solo Ads)
Another affiliate marketing example, which is not very widespread but very profitable, is affiliate marketing with Solo Ads.
Solo Ads means that you approach someone who has a large email list in a particular niche and you agree to send an email to their list in exchange for paying them. Usually you buy a number of clicks.
Example:
- I have a list of 5000 emails from people interested in affiliate marketing.
- You buy 500 clicks from me at 0.40 cents per click. Total 200 euros.
- I send your email with your offer and your affiliate link until you get 500 clicks.
- If the product is good and the email is catchy and you get 2% sales, then that translates into 10 sales.
- If you earn a commission of 50 euros per sale, then you will earn 500 euros with 300 euros being your profit.
If you go to the Facebook group Solo Ads Testimonials you will see different affiliate marketers who buy solo ads and write about their results.
For example, this lady…
She bought 100 clicks from Michael Kyle, got 116 clicks, 49% were written on her own list and she got one sale.
In the example below, Angela bought 1000 clicks, received 1150 and achieved 5 sales.
Now you tell me, where do you find these solo ad sellers.
- You can search Google or Facebook [the name of your niche] + solo ads.
- You can go to Udimi and find them all there.
Udimi is a marketplace with Solo Ads Sellers. That is, with people who sell Solo Ads.
Whoa, we have a Greek here.
As soon as you create an account on Udimi you can find various solo ads sellers.
More importantly, you can also read reviews which will help you to understand whether the seller is good or not.
5. Affiliate Marketing via social networks
Affiliate Marketing through social networks is done in different ways depending on the social network you are targeting.
- For example on Facebook you can use groups, you can create your own groups, you can create as many pages as you want (I think – I just have more than 10), you can run ads etc.
- On Reddit you can create as many subreddits as you want and post your links or articles, reply to comments and “recommend” the service or product you are a partner of or advertise.
- On Instagram and TikTok you reel and put the affiliate link in your profile – not directly – but through services like Linktree and Beacons. Users of these social networks see your videos, click on your profile, click on your link and if they buy, you get a commission.
- On Pinterest you keep uploading “catchy” graphics with your affiliate link or if you are an affiliate with amazon or AliExpress, you copy-paste your affiliate link directly, and Pinterest automatically “pulls” the product image.
Anyway, there are various strategies you can follow on social networks. Each strategy needs its own article, so I won’t sit here to analyze it.
One of the ones I’ve been using lately is the one on Reddit, where I answer comments and offer solutions to problems and questions that people may have. Usually the solution I suggest comes with my affiliate link.
In addition I create subreddits and publish articles around keywords related to the product I am promoting. I produce these articles with Jasper AI.
Final Words
I hope the affiliate marketing examples I mentioned above helped you understand better what affiliate marketing is and how it works.
Of course, these are only 5 examples of affiliate marketing out of the hundreds that are out there.
If that’s not what you were looking for then it means that the 3 hours it took me to write this article were wasted. So, do me a favor and send me an email and explain what you were expecting to learn by looking for affiliate marketing examples.
